Discover Bansko

Bansko is a mountain town in south-west Bulgaria below the Pirin range and today the most popular ski resort in the country. Skiing runs on slopes up to two thousand and a hundred metres, reached by a modern gondola straight from the town. Prices are markedly lower than in the Alps: a day lift pass costs around forty euros, accommodation from forty euros a night and lunch in a mehana six to twelve euros. Bansko also has a historic old town with stone houses, a church and taverns and in summer suits mountain hiking in Pirin National Park, a UNESCO site. The best ski season is from December to March. From Prague you fly to Sofia in an hour and a half and from there it is two and a half hours by car or bus. From the Czech Republic it is around fourteen hundred kilometres by car. Since January 2026 Bulgaria has been in the eurozone.
